Poirot lived at Friar Mansions in London at some point in the early part of his career. It is featured in the short story The Third Floor Flat when a young woman Ernestine Grant was found murdered in a flat two floors below his. Friar Mansions was a building with five storeys and Poirot lived on the top floor. He had taken the flat under the name "O'Connor".
