In the novel The Body in the Library, Frank Jefferson was the son of Conway and Margaret Jefferson. He was a good friend of Mike Carmody, who was married to Adelaide, and was the godfather of Mike and Adelaide's son, Peter Carmody. After Mike died, Frank married Adelaide, and became Peter's stepfather.

When Frank got married, his father turned half of his worldly goods to him. Frank wanted to be as good at business as his father, but he invested in the wrong things at the wrong times, and so lost most of the money.

Frank later died in a plane crash. At that time, there was very little money left, only a small income for Adelaide. However, she never told her father-in-law, because she knew that Frank would have hated that.

Portrayals[]

Frank is featured in the ITV 2004 adaptation of the novel (Episode 1, Season 1 of Agatha Christie's Marple). He is present in the first scene. This is a flashback to a birthday party thrown for Frank by Conway Jefferson towards the end of the Second World War. The party is interrupted by an explosion from a V2 rocket attack which killed many of the people present, including Frank. The actor who played him is not credited but IMDB lists his name as Miles Richardson. In this adaptation, Frank is an R.A.F. fighter pilot.
