In the authorized continuation short story The Unravelling, Florence is the maid of Miss Marple. She is being courted by Williams, the village postman. This is a source of some envy by Miss Marple's friends as the Florence-Williams connection allows Miss Marple to stay up to date with the latest happenings and gossip in the village.
Florence's main contribution to the plot is at the beginning where she tells Miss Marple all about the altercation between the haberdasher Mr Weaver and the farmhand Martin in the village square. Florence had learnt about this from Williams who had witnessed it firsthand.
