In Cartes sur table, the French Télévisions film adaptation of Agatha Christie's Cards on the Table, for the Les Petits Meurtres d'Agatha Christie TV series, Ferdinand Jouve is a French secret service employee who was one of the four "sleuths" invited by Shaitana for dinner. He therefore plays the role that parallels that of Colonel Race although his background and portrayal is wholly different.
After the murder of Shaitana was discovered, Jouve offered his services to commissaire Laurence but Laurence rejects them. Laurence later found out that Jouve was an archivist with the secret service who had been fired after three years for poking his nose into matters that did not concern him. He was incompetent and had megalomaniacal tendencies. Jouve claimed he had his vast experience to offer, but Laurence refused to take the help of someone who spent his time pushing paper and never did a moment's field work.
Jouve's behaviour in the show demonstrated how highly he thought of himself. He was often nosing around, for example, coming into Laurence's office to peep into his files without permission. He also broke into the house of the explorer Paul Coupet and stole his journals. When visiting Hélène Nevers, he was left alone in the living room for a while and likely stole something as well. This was all in aid of his own private investigation into Shaitana's death. Later in the episode, Jouve was found dead in Laurence's apartment, shot with Laurence's service revolver. Tricard was forced to suspend Laurence from the investigation. This led to one of the more amusing sequences in the show when Laurence persuades Alice Avril to fake a testimony she was having a rendezvous with him in order to give him an alibi so that he can continue to investigate.
The character of Ferdinand Jouve is played by Ged Marlon.
