In the novel Sparkling Cyanide, Evans is a parlourmaid working for the household of George Barton. She appears from Chapter 11 onwards at the London townhouse at Elvaston Square. But as Betty Archdale, the parlourmaid, had been dismissed earlier for refusing to go down to the country residence at Little Priors and the family would have needed a parlourmaid there, it is likely that Evans was employed as a replacement and had been at Little Priors.
