Commissaire divisionnaire Ernest Tricard is a non-canonical character created for Season 2 of TV series Les Petits Meurtres d'Agatha Christie. He is a Chief Superintendent in Lille and the direct superior of commissaire Laurence. He serves as a foil to Laurence, being almost diametrically opposite in their approaches to policing. Where Laurence is direct, aggressive and not averse to taking risks or offending people, Tricard is typically more worried about the politics and the reactions of superior HQ. Tricard is not thought of by Laurence as a good investigator but he does come through when needed and on more than one occasion saves the day.
Tricard's wife died at some point before the events of Crimes haute couture, and he started to go to an alcohol prevention group, where he met Patricia Nollet. He could give her an alibi for the murder of Paco Gomez. Later in Mélodie mortelle, he reveals that he is a great fan of the popular yéyé singer Nicky. Her songs, especially the lyrics of C'était l'été (It was Summer) helped him to get over his depression.
Tricard has a sister, Clémence Berg, the tyrannical matriarch of the Berg family. Their mother died in Rendez vous avez la Mort.
The character of Tricard is portrayed by Dominique Thomas.
