In the novel After the Funeral, Enderby Hall was the home of the Abernethie family. Described as a vast Victorian house built in the gothic style, it was originally built by Cornelius Abernethie, the grand patriach and originator of the family wealth. Richard Abernethie inherited the estate and when he died, Enderby Hall had to be sold for the wealth to be distributed among his successors. This sale provided the opportunity for Poirot (who was quietly investigating Richard's death) to come to Enderby. He posed as one "M. Pontarlier" who represented a organisation which wanted to buy the house to convert it into a residence for foreign refugees.
There is little information about where Enderby Hall was located but it was "to the north" of London.
