Emma Orczy (1865-1947) was a Hungarian-born British author, known for creating the character the Scarlet Pimpernel.
She also wrote The Old Man in the Corner (1909), a crime short story collection featuring an unnamed armchair detective. Tommy and Tuppence Beresford adopted the crime solving style of this "old man" in the short story The Sunningdale Mystery.
She published two more crime short story collections featuring the same character, and one featuring Lady Molly.
