Emma Orczy (1865-1947) was a Hungarian-born British author, known for creating the character the Scarlet Pimpernel.

She also wrote The Old Man in the Corner (1909), a crime short story collection featuring an unnamed armchair detective. The novel inspired Tommy and Tuppence Beresford (The Sunningdale Mystery)

She published two more crime short story collections featuring the same character, and one featuring Lady Molly.
