In the novel One, Two, Buckle My Shoe, Emma is the cook serving Henry Morley and his sister Georgina Morley at their flat above Henry's dental practice at 58 Queen Charlotte Street. After Henry died, Georgina moved out to a house in Hertford. Emma did not want to leave London and so did not follow her.
On the day of Henry Morley's murder, the parlour maid of the Morleys, Agnes Fletcher saw Frank Carter entering Henry's office. She did not tell the police about this at first, but discussed it with Emma. Emma agreed when Agnes wanted to wait a while before telling the police because neither of them wanted to get Frank Carter into trouble. Emma does not appear in the novel in person but she was mentioned several times by Agnes.
