Elsa Lanchester and her husband, Charles Laughton in Witness for the Prosecution

Elsa Lanchester (1902 - 1986) was an English-American actress. She played Miss Plimsoll in the 1957 film Witness for the Prosecution opposite her husband Charles Laughton as Sir Wilfrid Robarts; they both received Oscar nominations for their roles. In 1976 she appeared in Murder by Death as Jessica Marbles, a parody of Jane Marple.

Lanchester appeared in beloved films like The Bride of Frankenstein, Lassie Come Home, and Mary Poppins.
