In the novel The Sittaford Mystery, Elmer Pound is a man living in Sittaford. He is the only one in the village with a car, an old Ford. He had a sort of unofficial taxi service, and for a handsome price he could drive people into Exhampton.

In chapter 19, when looking for transport from Sittaford to Exhampton, Emily Trefusis said that the "man at the smithy" has "a car of sorts". This suggests that Elmer is the village blacksmith--the blacksmith and the post-office/sweet shop being the only two businesses in the village. In chapter 13, Mrs Curtis mentions the name of the village blacksmith as "Mr Pound". This suggests that Elmer and Mr Pound are the same person. Earlier, Mrs Curtis had also mentioned that the blacksmith's wife was expecting her eighth child.
