In the short story The Adventure of the Egyptian Tomb, Dr Tosswill was an archaeologist from the British Museum who was present at the excavation of the tomb of Men-ha-Ra headed by Sir John Willard.
Portrayals[]
Tosswill is played by Jon Strickland in the film adaptation of The Adventure of the Egyptian Tomb' in Series 5 of ITV's Agatha Christie's Poirot. Here his name was changed to "Dr Fosswell". Unlike the original story where Lady Willard described Toswill as a relatively junior official, Fosswell thought of himself as next in line for the Curator of Egyptian antiquities.
