In the novel The Body in the Library, Dinah Lee is the wife of Basil Blake. She is described as having "scarlet lips, blackened eyelashes, and platinum blonde hair". She has blue eyes.
Miss Marple visits Dinah to see if she can contribute something for the upcoming Sale of Work at the vicarage, and to give her some advice. She strongly advises Dinah not to continue using her maiden name in the village, because there is a prejudice against unmarried people living together, and with Basil Blake being suspected of murder, he and Dinah would need all the goodwill they could get.
Dinah is surprised that Miss Marple knows about their marriage, and asks if she has been to Somerset House. Miss Marple explains that the kind of quarrels they had were typical of the early days of marriage, whereas unmarried people are much more careful and do not dare to quarrel.
Dinah's mention of Somerset House later gives Miss Marple the idea that if either Mark Gaskell or Adelaide Jefferson were married or likely to marry, their partner would have an interest in the death of Ruby Keene as well.
