In the novel Towards Zero, Delpleach was the prosecutor in the much talked-about Lamorne case in the Old Bailey. He had made a crucial mistake during the trial, by relying to much on one of the witnesses. This gave a crucial opening to the defence and resulted in the accused being acquitted.

The case was discussed in detail by Mr Treves' circle of legal friends in the prologue of the novel.
