In the novel The Body in the Library, Daneleigh Vale is located near the town of Danemouth. The home of the Reeves family is there. As Daneleigh Vale stood on the other side of Danemouth from Danebury Downs where the girl-guide rally was held, both Miss Marple and Detective Superintendent Harper surmised that Pamela Reeves would have to pass through Danemouth to get home. After speaking to witnesses, the police learnt that she had taken a shortcut through fields which would emerge in Danemouth near the Majestic Hotel. This lent credence to the hypothesis that she might been an unwitting witness about something significant in the death of Ruby Keene which in turn led to her having to be killed.
