The Daily Dispatch was a Manchester based newspaper.

In 1930 Agatha Christie accepted the grand sum of £60 to write a story called Manx Gold. It came as a request from the people responsible for boosting tourism on the Isle of Man. The clues were written in a ‘treasure hunt’ format and were published by Manchester’s Daily Dispatch, in five instalments on 23, 24, 26, 27 and 28 May 1930. It was also distributed in pamphlet form to hotels throughout the island.
