In the play Spider's Web, Clarissa Hailsham-Brown is the second wife of Henry Hailsham-Brown. She lives with her husband and stepdaughter at Copplestone Court in Kent.
Clarissa is very playful, and creates games to entertain her guests.

- The role was written specially for the Margaret Lockwood, on the request of the actress. She played the part in the original West End production in 1954.
- Margaret Lockwood reprised the role in a 1955 television adaptation.
- In the 1960 adaptation, slightly renamed The Spider's Web, Clarissa was played by Glynis Johns.
- BBC adapted the play for television in 1982. This time Penelope Keith played the role of Clarissa Hailsham-Brown.
