Sir Christopher Frank Carandini Lee, CBE, CStJ (27 May 1922 – 7 June 2015) was an English actor. He was the uncle of actress Harriet Walter.
A celebrated pop culture figure, with hundreds of credits to his name over a six decade career, he was known for his commanding screen presence and iconic voice. He gained fame for his work with Hammer Films, particularly in the role of Count Dracula, which made him a fixture of the Horror genre. He appeared as the villain in the James Bond film The Man with the Golden Gun (and was in fact the step-cousin of Bond's creator Ian Fleming), starred in the folk horror classic The Wicker Man (his own favourite movie), and became a Tim Burton regular with the likes of Sleepy Hollow, Corpse Bride and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. However, his best known roles among modern audiences are Saruman in Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings and Hobbit trilogies, and Count Dooku in the Star Wars prequels.
