In the novels The Secret of Chimneys and The Seven Dials Mystery, Chimneys is a large estate in the English countryside. It is the home of the Marquises of Caterham. The 9th Marquis of Caterham lives there with his three daughters Eileen, Daisy and Dulcie.
Several meetings between foreign royalty, diplomats and other dignitaries have taken place there, especially when the 8th Marquis of Caterham lived there.
At some point Lord Caterham let Chimneys to Sir Oswald Coote and his wife. (The Seven Dials Mystery)

To travel to Chimneys one can take the train from London's Paddington Station to Market Basing. (The Secret of Chimneys), thereby establishing that the estate is to the west of London.
