In the novel Death in the Clouds, Chattisley sold Venetia Kerr a two year-old horse. Venetia used this as a conversation opener when she met Lord Horbury who was riding around his estate. The conversation dwelt on horses for a while before getting to where Horbury really wanted to go: how did the inquest go, and who Venetia thought had killed Madame Giselle.
