Agatha Christie Wiki

In the authorised Miss Marple continuation short story Evil in Small Places, Celia Beautemps is a French former opera singer who had come recently to settle in the town of Meon Maltravers after her career was interrupted because of some problem with her vocal chords. After arriving in the town, she was quickly appointed by the vicar Reverend Peabody as the choirmistress, thus displacing the longstanding Mrs Prufrock who had been the choirmistress for some three decades. As the new choirmistress, Celia managed somehow to antagonise almost every other member of the choir. Celia lived in a rented house Badger's Rest in which the choir practices took place. What happened there would form the main plot of the story.
