In the novel The Pale Horse, Carrington Park is the house in Amberley, Surrey. It was the former home of Thomas Tuckerton, but was later inhabited by his widow.
The house was built by John Nash, a famous Recency-Victorian architect who built in the neo-classical style. However, according to Ginger Corrigan, it is not a built according to his usual style but nearer to a gothic flight of fancy. Mark Easterbrook is to use the excuse that he is writing an essay on influences that cause fluctuations in an architect's style as an excuse for calling on Mrs Tuckerton. True enough, the house does not match Mark's preconceived idea of a Nash house but is more like a modest castle. Ginger had promised to send a book on Nash architecture for him to read up but it did not arrive in time so Mark is forced to fake it.
