In the 2003 ITV adaptation of the novel Sparkling Cyanide, Carl "Fizz" Fitzgerald is the parallel character of Anthony Browne. He is a striker which George Barton has recently purchased for his football team. At the beginning of the show, Fizz has just made a successful debut by scoring a hat-trick in a match, allowing his team to win 3-0. The first dinner party is actually a celebration of Fizz's debut rather than a birthday party for Rosemary Barton.
Fizz's backstory and plot role is radically different from Anthony Browne in the original. He has a relationship with Iris Marle like in the original and towards the end of the show it is announced that he and Iris are engaged. Other than this, he doesn't have any other plot role except by being absent. Unlike Anthony Browne he does not take part or help in any way in the investigations. Towards the end when Iris Marle is afraid for her life, she desperately calls Fizz on his cellphone but all she gets is his voicemail. She leaves several messages asking him to call back but he never does. Unlike Browne in the original, Fizz is not present at the finale to save Iris. But obviously Iris doesn't hold it against him since, at the end of the show, they decide to get married, sooner rather than later.
Carl "Fizz" Fitzgerald is portrayed by Justin Pierre.
