In the novel Lord Edgware Dies, Bryan Martin is a successful actor who worked with Jane Wilkinson and was recently in love with her. He is now fond of Jenny Driver. He knew Carlotta Adams as a child.

He was in love with Jane Wilkinson, and had wanted to marry her. However, she fell in love with the Duke of Merton, and turned Martin down. He took it badly, drinking a lot, and even threatening her with a revolver at one point. He seemed to calm down later, but still held some resentment towards her.
