In the novel They Came to Baghdad, Bolford and Avory's is a Savile Row tailor. Although it specialised in gentlemen's suits, it was also one of a few who would do ladie's suits for special customers. Anna Scheele visited the tailor as part of her counter-surveillance activities against a surveillance team led by Sanders. At Bolford's, Anna ordered a coat and skirt. She was served by Mr Bolford personally. He treated her like a V.I.P. and assured her that he could give her their "export quality" and that Mr Lantwick would personally cut the suit. Lantwick was 72 years old but Bolford considered him his very best cutter and the only man he could really trust to cut for his best customers.
