In the novel By the Pricking of My Thumbs, Blodgick was one of the previous owners of the Canal House. In answer to Tuppence's interest in the history of the house, Mr Copleigh and Mrs Copleigh said that Blodgick was a gentleman farmer and hence liked the house. But the land around it was not very good and Blodgick was not very successful at farming it and he sold the house not long after.
