In the novel A Pocket Full of Rye, Billingsley, Horsethorpe & Walter at Bedford Square is the law firm in London handling the affairs of the Fortescue family. They managed, in particular, the will of Rex Fortescue. As the police knew, it was not the only firm who handled Rex Fortescue's legal dealings. For less reputable dealings, Rex emploed several less scrupulous firms. When Adele Fortescue wanted to make a will she chose not to go to the "stuck up" Billingsley. She was concerned that the firm, being so close to Rex, might tell him what the terms of her will was.
