In the novel And Then There Were None, Emily Brent spent two summers at the Belhaven Guest House. She received a letter from "U.N.O" who claimed that they were together at the Belhaven Guest House some years ago. The letter writer told her that he had started a guest house of his own n Soldier Island and invited Emily to spend her summer holiday there. The signature on the letter was rather illegible and Emily thought that it came from one Mrs Oliver whom she had met at the Belhaven Guest House.
