In the novel Postern of Fate, Tommy leave their home named Bartons Acre and moved to a new place named The Laurels at Hollowquay. They had been forced to move because the old house was in a very bad state of repair. There was trouble with the dining room and attics. And something had gone wrong with the garage that almost wrecked the car. When Tuppence suggested that the house could be patched up, Tommy replied that the damage was too serious. They would have had to rebuild the whole house.
