In the novel Towards Zero, The Balmoral Court is a hotel in Saltcreek. It is run by Mr and Mrs Rogers, who used to be the butler and the cook of Lord Mounthead. The porter at the hotel is named Joe.

The hotel is old-fashioned, quiet with first-class cooking and service.

It is located about one hundred yards from Gull's Point. The barrister Rufus Lord highly recommended the hotel to his friend Mr Treves who decided to stay there for his holiday when his usual hotel, the Marine Hotel at Leahead was closed.
