In the novel The Mysterious Affair at Styles, Baily is one of the servants at Styles Court. He is woken during the night of July the 17th and is told to go for Dr Wilkins because Emily Inglethorp had taken ill. He departed in a car and met Dr Bauerstein by the lodge gate.
Baily occurs only once in this episode and so his role in the household is not clear.
