In the novel Appointment with Death, Aziz is one of the servants at the camp at Petra, where the Boynton family and other travellers stay. During the investigations, Poirot said to Mahmoud the dragoman who had accompanied the tour that Mrs Boynton had been unhappy with one of the servants and asks Mahmoud to find out which one it was. Mahmoud said it was impossible because the boys would not tell. Abdul would blame Mohammed, Mohammed would blame Aziz and Aziz would blame Aissa. According to Mahmoud, Aziz, like the rest of the servants, was a Bedouin.
