
Anthony Shaffer (1926 – 2001) was an English playwright, screenwriter and novelist. His best known play is the Tony Award winning Sleuth, which he later adapted into an acclaimed film starring Laurence Olivier and Michael Caine in Oscar nominated performances. Shaffer's script recieved a BAFTA nomination, and won an Edgar award. His other noted films include Alfred Hitchcock's Frenzy, and horror classic The Wicker Man, which starred Edward Woodward and Christopher Lee.
Shaffer worked as a screenwriter for several adaptations of Hercule Poirot novels.
