Amelia Walker is a non-canonical character who was created for ITV's 2007 adaptation of the novel At Bertram's Hotel. Amelia was a guest of the hotel at the time Miss Marple was staying there. She was a jazz singer and friend of Louis Armstrong, also, staying at the hotel at the time. She was slated to perform at the Royal Albert Hall and there are some scenes of her singing, first in the hotel and later at the Albert Hall.
Towards the end of the show, it was revealed that Amelia was at the hotel for a second purpose: to buy a Vermeer painting. The painting had been brought in by a ex-Nazi fugitive and used to pay for his passage to a safe haven using a escape route (a ratline) centred on the hotel. Amelia bought the painting and attempted to smuggle it out hidden in a piano but Inspector Larry Bird found it when he noticed that the piano was out of tune.
Earlier in the show, Elvira Blake asked Amelia why she disliked Bess Sedgwick so much. Elvira had guessed it from the way she had seen Amelia look at Bess. Amelia replied that Bess deserved to be shot. Bess had apparently taken Amelia's husband. This brief scene was probably to build up Amelia as a potential suspect but was not developed very far. Nor are we given the identity of this husband or any other background information.
Amelia Walker was portrayed by Mica Paris.
