In the short story How Does Your Garden Grow?, Miss Amelia Barrowby was an elderly lady who lived at her cottage, Rosebank, Charman's Green, Buckinghamshire with her niece Mary Delafontaine and Mary's husband. At the beginning of the story Amelia wrote to Poirot asking him to investigate a family matter with utmost discretion. However, by the time Poirot called on her, she was already dead, having been poisoned by strychnine.
