In the novel Destination Unknown, Alcadi is the name of the pilot who flew Hilary Craven on her flight from Fez. The aircraft was later found on the ground, off its course to and all burnt up. In studying the background to the incident, French intelligence agent Mr Leblanc noted that the pilot Alcadi was young, reasonably competent but badly paid. Leblanc's British counterpart Mr Jessop observed that therefore he was open to bing bribed but not someone who would contemplate suicide. Later a pearl was found some distance from the wreckage. This had a secret mark on it and came from a costume jewelry necklace which Hilary was wearing. These indications led Leblanc and Jessop to surmise that the crash was a fake.
