In the novel Dumb Witness, Agnes Georgina Mary Arundell was one of the sisters of Emily Arundell. She never married and died in 1921. She was buried in the churchyard in Market Basing, along with her father, General Arundell, and her sister Matilda.

Agnes was the youngest of the family, and had always been strong and robust. However, she died before her sister, Emily, who had been delicate since childhood.

Agnes had also beem considered the pretty one of the family, and according to Miss Peabody, she was thought of as rather "gay". However, Agnes never married.
