In the novel The Murder of Roger Ackroyd, Ackroyd and Son is the name of a company owned by Roger Ackroyd. As Ackroyd is described as a successful manufacturer of wagon wheels, this must presumably be the main activity of the company. Who the "son" is in the name is not clear as As Ackroyd had no son. He might possibly have inherited the company from his father or else it was just an fanciful term he had chosen. By the terms of Ackroyd's will, upon his death, his shares in the company would pass to Ralph Paton.
