Abriaa Wa Laken (أبرياء ولكن) or "Innocent But" is a 2015 Lebanese television series adaptation of Ordeal by Innocence. The series was produced by the Marwa Group as a follow up to their successful series Achra Abid Zghar, an adaptation of And Then There Were None. Abriaa Wa Laken was directed by Samir Habashi and first aired on Lebanese TV channel MTV on 3 Feb 2015.[1]
Some media sources mention the series is also an adaptation of Appointment with Death but this is not confirmed.[2] The synopses released by the production company and MTV suggests that the series follows the storyline of Ordeal by Innocence fairly closely.[3] However folding plot elements of Appointment with Death into the storyline would not be impossible since both stories feature a strong, tyrannical matriach character who ends up being killed.
The series was reportedly pulled from broadcast after three episodes. Speaking to the press about this, Marwan Hadad, head of the Marwan Group production company said that this was due to some daring scenes in the episodes which some unnamed party wanted removed. Marwan seemed to imply that the stoppage was temporary and the series would resume on 23 Feb.[4]
One media source suggests there were 30 episodes.[2] IMDb states there were 19. The playlist at the Youtube channel of the Marwa Group International has 20 episodes, and this is probably authoritative.[5]
The series is also referred to as أبناء وقتلة (abna' wa qatala - Sons and Murderers).
