In the novel Destination Unknown, Abdul Mohammed is the name of a Moroccan peasant. After the disappearance of Hilary Craven in an aircrash which was determined to be faked, French authorities searched the general area. In the house of Abdul Mohammed, a pearl was found embedded in a little piece of chewing-gum in a dark corner of the latrine. This was from a costume jewelry necklace which Hilary was wearing.
Abdul Mohammed and his sons were interrogated. At first they denied knowing anything but afterward admitted that a carload of six people said to be from the German archaeological expedition spent a night at his house. Abdul was paid a lot of money not to say anything about this. From this and other reports, Mr Jessop of British intelligence and his French colleague Mr Leblanc were able to establish the line of movement of Hilary's party from the site of the fake aircrash.
